No. Low level lasers, also known as soft lasers, are completely painless. They do not cut, burn, or contain any radioactivity. The laser output is no more powerful than a 60 watt light bulb.
While the laser therapy treatment itself takes approximately 30 minutes, we recommend all clients allot one full hour in order to review paperwork and learn more about the actual procedure.
While low level laser therapy (LLLT) has been FDA approved for certain types of pain and stress relief, LLLT for the indication of smoking cessation is currently investigational. New Life actively monitors patients' success after their initial treatment and forwards these results to the FDA.
While strictly a precautionary measure, we regret that we are unable to treat you if you:
• Have tumors or active cancer
• Are using photodynamic therapy (radiation), or immunosuppressant drugs (chemotherapy)
• Are taking blood thinners, or have a blood clotting disorder
• Have a history of serious psychological or psychiatric illness (i.e schizophrenia)
• Have injected steroids in the past 48 hours
• Have epilepsy, unless your eyes are totally blocked out to avoid any possibility of light causing a seizure
Laser therapy is not intended to replace medical care. We recommend that you consult your physician for a professional diagnosis of your health.
